SECTION 1: DIGITAL MEDIA

The use of digital media in language classrooms is very useful right now and we can observe a shift from traditional computer-assisted language learning (CALL) within specifically established computer labs in schools to mobile-assisted language learning (MALL or MLL). This is because mobile devices such as laptops or smartphones are multifunctional and widespread. For students, the use of digital media for language learning can be motivating, especially if the digitally supported activities meet their needs and interests, and if they correspond to the way that they use digital communication in their daily lives. (Reference Feser, Udell and Woodill Feser, 2015).

However, while it might seem that digital technologies offer big advantages for teaching, it is important to point out that they are not an end in themselves. They need to be incorporated into established language teaching approaches, such as task- or project-based learning like it is the case of this course, so that they can be of maximum benefit for language learners.

The main digital media used in each module of this course are as follows:

-Mindmeister, which will provide you with the most important aspects of each module, such as needs analysis, objectives, content, resources and assessment;

-Prezi, which will give you an introduction to specific grammar structures, as well as showing you videos and different activities to practice your English;

-Google Forms, which you will use to assess your newly acquired knowledge on a given topic.
